Schoellhorn-Albrecht Capstan

This unit was bought in a lot of newer capstans from a large Fortune 500 company. Never used near water.

5HP, 208-230/460 VAC, 60 Hertz, 23-21 / 10.5 amps, Star wired, Frame 256U, TEFC, 900 rpm's

At the motor the unit is 42" long. The footprint of the base measures 15" by 21.75". The base is 2" thick at the bolt holes. The bolt holes are 1 and 9/16ths in diameter. The bolt holes are centered rectangularly at 12" and 18.75".

The capstan head barrel is 10" in diameter and the flat part of the barrel (the part the rope wraps on) is about 10" tall.
Altogether the head is 14" tall with a flange on top of 13 inches in diameter and a flange on the bottom of 13 or 14 inches as well. The reduction is 120:1. The cathead turns 7.4 times a minute. The haul in speed is approx. 20 fpm.

Complete rebuild (1/7/09) and test run with factory provided new worm gear, worm shaft, name plate and gasket /shims, all new Timken bearings and seals in gearbox (one small NTN bearing) and SKF sealed for life bearings in motor. No chinese bearings used at all.

****SPECIAL NOTE****
I can get my hands on a second unit, which is an identical model to this one, and it has been completely rebuilt also, but without a brand new worm gear set. It does have good gears in it and it looks the exact same as this one here.
