Launch and Recovery System (LARS)
Stern mounted A-frame or U-frame
Victoria Machine Works, Inc.
Model #: 6421-400
Serial # 86421-1
Unit is 8' wide and 9' 2" tall with boom rested. It has 75" of clear between the uprights. The base could possibly be cut and the head spread out more to suit your width requirements. The unit is about 16' 6" long at the base. With the boom fully rested it would be a few inches longer at the top.
Hydraulic cylinders have 60 inches of stroke with 4" rods.
Fully extended the boom attachment point (pad-eye) goes out 10' past the base and the center of the bore on it is 18' 5" above ground.
All the welds or parts seem to be numbered and all or most have an inspection stamp near them.
Unit has extra hydraulic lines that go out to the boom for a mechanical release of some sort, probably built for a diving bell.
Paint is worn with no visible rust (except for the four tie rods on the outside of each cylinders). Tie rods are good, no pitting.
Needs new hoses, (piping looks good), cylinders need re-packing, some slight rust damage (sanded) on last 1" of rods, not thought to affect operation.
I have a lot of pictures of this item I can email to you on request.
